Civil society organisations stand up for their peers working for local communities and for a peaceful Hungary

22/12/2017
Short description

Following the steps of the Hungarian government, during the past week elected local representatives in several Hungarian cities launched attacks on Hungarian civil society organisations (CSOs), working for the benefit of communities and the Hungarian society, questioning their credibility and compromising their operations. We, 135 Hungarian CSOs, providing support to widest variety of social groups and people, stand up for those under attack and reject these attempts to stigmatise them. It is Hungary’s common interest that CSOs can work freely and without intimidation to help local communities.

Complex support for the social integration of third-country nationals

The focus of this project is the tailored support of third-country nationals lawfully residing in Hungary. Taking into account the individual needs of the target group, we apply a holistic approach that includes individual, group, and community interventions. Our activities aim to support social integration, promote autonomy, and enhance awareness and openness within the host society.
The project is implemented in Budapest and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County through the collaboration of Menedék – Association for Migrants and Utcáról Lakásba! Association (ULE).

Supplementary services for vulnerable refugees and strengthening the local stakeholders in Hungary

With the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), we provide supplementary services to individuals in vulnerable situations who benefit from international protection, refugees fleeing from Ukraine, and other beneficiaries in refugee-like situations. The project focuses on the capacity building of the national protection system and facilitating access to public services for those in need.

Holistic integration support, child protection and education services for beneficiaries of international and temporary protection

Menedék provides multi-faceted support for beneficiaries of international protection, TP holders and other persons in refugee-like situations. The project lies on two interconnected pillars: inclusion and child protection.

Supplementary employment-related assistance and integration service provision to displaced persons from Ukraine

The project is aimed at addressing social and economic integration challenges that refugees arriving from Ukraine and residing in Hungary encounter with by organizing community-based activities and providing employment-related support for refugees, therefore, addressing their accessibility to various opportunities and services.

Together for fact-based and authentic social communication

The aim is to professionalise the external and internal communication of NGOs, to develop their objectives and instruments through the targeted use of social science research, and to improve the social communication of NGOs representing discriminated minority groups or supporting socially less accepted causes. The project’s direct target group are members, staff, volunteers and supporters of NGOs involved in advocacy, support and legal protection of discriminated and marginalised minority groups. Indirect target group: NGOs involved in social communication and campaigning.

21/12/2023
Short description

We believe that the adopted bill does not effectively define the basic framework of migration (the entry and stay of foreigners), regarding the economic and cultural interests of Hungary and Hungarian citizens.
