Complex support for the social integration of third-country nationals

The focus of this project is the tailored support of third-country nationals lawfully residing in Hungary. Taking into account the individual needs of the target group, we apply a holistic approach that includes individual, group, and community interventions. Our activities aim to support social integration, promote autonomy, and enhance awareness and openness within the host society.
The project is implemented in Budapest and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County through the collaboration of Menedék – Association for Migrants and Utcáról Lakásba! Association (ULE).

MAIN ACTIVITIES
To ensure safe and stable housing conditions for the target group, we work closely together with ULE. The housing component of the project is designed to provide tailored assistance to help participants finding suitable housing solutions. Financial support, adapted to individual needs, is complemented by social work services that facilitate independent living.

Through individual case management, we assist participants with navigating administrative procedures, accessing services, and maintaining contact with institutions. We also support their labor market integration, focusing on developing their competencies and skills, such as job search techniques, CV and motivation letter writing, and interview preparation. The support extends to job searching, sustaining employment, and preventing labor market exploitation.

Language and cultural integration are essential for successful inclusion. Our comprehensive services offer individual and group sessions to enhance intercultural competencies and promote active citizenship. Individual mentoring may also help prepare for citizenship and cultural knowledge exams.
The integration of foreign children into the Hungarian education system benefits the children and their families, schools, and local communities—ultimately contributing to the entire society. To facilitate this, we organize Hungarian language development programs, tutoring sessions, classroom activities, and community programs. We also provide community-building and extracurricular activities to support children’s mental well-being, sense of belonging, and identity.

EXPECTED RESULTS
Approximately 2,300 individuals are expected to receive tailored support during the project implementation. Beneficiaries will gain access to stable and sustainable housing, improved job opportunities, and better educational access while also strengthening their connections with the host society. Housing support and labor market integration services will enhance the financial and social security of the target group. Community programs and intercultural competency development will increase social cohesion, reduce isolation, and lower the risk of radicalization.
