Beyond Binaries: a segmented look at Hungarian perspectives on outgroups - report

Benedek Paskuj's report summarizes findings from research conducted in collaboration with local scholars and civil society organizations to better understand public opinion toward refugees and asylum seekers, Jews, Roma, and LMBTQ+ in Hungary today. Building on a broad body of work examining rising prejudice and intergroup division in Hungary, our hope for this research was to identify actionable insights for civil society organizations and other groups addressing relevant dynamics in the country.

ReROOT executive summary

Last year, for more than 6 months we have been researching the infrastructures supporting university students arriving in Hungary in the framework of the ReRoot project. Through interviews, an online survey and moving into a dormitory, we produced a detailed analysis. The summary of this analysis can be read here. Innovative methods for helping vulnerable refugees: RAISD project comes to an end

As part of the RAISD project, Menedék Association worked with its foreign professional partners between 2019 and 2022 to develop professional and personalized methods of providing assistance to vulnerable refugees. In addition to Menedék Association, the project involved partner organizations from Finland, Jordan, Lebanon, Italy, Spain, and Turkey, led by the Complutense University of Madrid.

The Menedék Egyesület has been involved in a research project on the social integration of refugees in 14 European countries for many years. The project is called NIEM (National Integration Evaluation Mechanism).  A book on the subject is also being prepared and is expected to be published this June. In the coming weeks, we will share the results of this research with you here. We present concepts, questions and data related to migration, which will not only be of interest to those working in this field, but will also provide useful information to the wider public. In addition to each text, infographics will help with understanding the various topics.
