But some children think of their friends and the home they had left behind and can hardly find happy summertime memories to draw and tell stories about. Many refugee children have even never been on holiday. Let's give them the opportunity to look back on their summer with joy!

For almost three decades, we at Menedék Association have been helping those forced to flee or left their homes for other reasons to find safety and a new home in Hungary. Many of the refugees arriving in Hungary are children. Menedék always pays special attention to them. We feel responsible for their successful integration because we know how we, members of the host society, treat them will determine the kind of society we will be living in.
To feel at home in a foreign country, you need connections. For children, it is also about being children again: to find a welcoming community, to play and learn. That is where Menedék helps them with expertise, care, attention and experience. Summer camps are always a great experience: the children who participate experience that they are not alone and what it is like to be "just" children. The experience of being close to nature helps to uncover traumas, and the programs help to forget about everyday difficulties.

What do we need for the 24th?
This year we are organising an even bigger camp than last year. Due to the escalation of the war in Ukraine, the number of children we are actively helping has increased, and we want to include them in the summer camp.
60 refugee children
2 parallel venues in Cserápváralja
12 adults (volunteers, interns, staff)
We try to raise money to cover our growing costs every year but to do it this year, we need your support!
Where your donations go:
3,000 forints will give 1 child a ticket to Bogács beach and an ice cream.
5,000 forints: will give 1 child a daily meal (3 meals a day).
10,000 forints will send 1 child to camp for one day (accommodation + three meals a day).
25,000 forints will cover 1 child's accommodation fee for 5 days.
50,000 HUF will send 1 child for a week (5 days) to our summer camp.
