The two-year, four-country REACHMIND project aims to support the mental health and school integration of foreign and minority children, as well as to promote intercultural dialogue and understanding through practical tools and training tailored for children, parents, and teachers. The project is funded by the European Union.
In order to support the mental health and school integration of refugee, migrant, and minority children, Menedék - Migrant Helping Association is participating in the Refugee, Education, And Children Mental health IN Development (REACHMIND) project. The project is being carried out with the support of the European Union's Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme during the years 2025-2026, involving civil society organizations from the Visegrád countries and coordinated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Within the framework of the two-year project, toolkits and interactive trainings will be developed in the participating countries (Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, and the Czech Republic) with the active involvement of children aged 12–16, parents, and teachers. These tools aim to foster an inclusive environment and support mental well-being.
In the REACHMIND project, Menedék Association's partners are the Slovak organization Mareena, the Polish Osrodek Rozwoju Edukacji (ORE) – Center for Education Development, the Czech Narodni Ustav Dusevniho Zdravi (NIMH) – National Institute of Mental Health (NUDZ), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
As part of REACHMIND, a four-country needs assessment will be carried out based on focus group discussions with children, parents, and teachers, to explore the mental well-being of the 12–16 age group and the challenges and opportunities of integration in school settings. Based on this study, toolkits will be developed and tailored for children, parents, and teachers to support mental health and multicultural classrooms. The developed toolkits will be introduced through training sessions and will also be made available online.
