The goal of the project is to provide services improving reception conditions and expanding opportunities of refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection arriving in Hungary.
The goal of the project is to provide services improving reception conditions and expanding opportunities of refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection arriving in Hungary. Moreover it aims to ensure a higher level of protection for children and to identify vulnerable persons and to secure access to local integration for those in need of international protection. Based on past years’ experiences we consider the integration of refugees and people with subsidiary protection as a complex psycho-social support activity. We believe that harmonizing the different support activities and implementing them in a flexible operational framework is crucial, thus we elaborated a complex social service system that uses the tools and techniques of social work in its different activities.
Our individual casework and social counselling in Budapest focuses on the individual needs and problems of refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection. We provide intercultural mediation and general support in communication between refugees and authorities, employers, flat owners and utility companies in order to prevent or manage intercultural or language conflicts. We also provide legal counselling to refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection.
Menedék arranges group activities and community activities to support the integration of certain vulnerable groups.
We also offer several educational programs in order to foster the acquaintance of both children and adults with migrant background with Hungarian customs and language (writing, reading, and talking) with the aim of helping their school integration, or in the case of adults, their labor-market integration. We organize an official Hungarian language course in cooperation with an accredited language school.
Our social workers, intercultural mediators and community workers visit the reception facility in Vámosszabadi and Balassagyarmat on a weekly basis where they provide individual social counselling and organize group activities for children and adults as well.
Önkéntesek bevonásával egyéni mentorálás keretében segítjük a nemzetközi védelemben részesülő gyerekek iskolai előrehaladását. Ezen felül gyerekprogramokat szervezünk, valamint egy nyári tábort tartunk főként azoknak a gyerekeknek, akikkel a tanév során mentorálás keretében foglalkozunk.
Involving volunteers, we provide mentoring sessions for children to support their successful school integration. We also organize community activities for children, and a summer camp for those who take part in our activities throughout the year.
