Community activities mitigating social isolation of beneficiaries of international protection

Within the framework of the project financed by the Julia Taft Refugee Fund Menedék Association aims to organise a series of interlinked community events and activities through which refugees, vulnerable members of migrant communities as well as members of the host society can meet, interact, and strengthen their common sense of belonging through building social networks.

In order to assist the integration and ease the isolation of the target group, and help foster the relationship between the local and migrant communities, Menedék wishes to organise the following:

  • Children, adolescent and adult community programmes, where individuals can meet and bond with each other. For example summer camp for children and a weekend trip for young adults.
  • Cultural programmes (either local cultural events, or events relevant to the migrant community) to enable meeting other cultures.
  • Organisation of an Outreach Fair, where the target group and organisations who provide services for them can meet.
  • Hungarian as a foreign language classes as well as the skill development of volunteers teaching Hungarian, in order to assist migrants in acquiring the local language and thus their integration.
  •
